Natural Gas-Biomass to Liquids Workshop

The Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office, in coordination with the Office of Fossil Energy and the National Energy Technology Laboratory, is planning to host a workshop on September 3, 2013, on Natural Gas-Biomass to Liquids (GBTL) research needs and technology options. The objective of this workshop will be to obtain input from industry, academia, research establishments, and other experts on whether or not there is a role for the Department of Energy to conduct research and development and develop new process technologies. Issues that will be discussed at this event include process conversion pathways, techno-economic analysis, resource/volume potentials, and greenhouse gas emissions. The scope of this workshop will be the production of liquid transportation fuels or products from combinations of natural gas and biomass feedstocks.

The one day workshop will be held in Chicago, Illinois, and is being planned as a pre-conference event in conjunction with tcbiomass2013. Details and registration information for tcbiomass2013 can be found on the Gas Technology Institute website.

The workshop is open to everyone. More details about the event will be posted on this webpage as they become available.

If you are interested in attending the workshop, please contact Ashley.Rose@ee.doe.gov with your name, organization, and details about specific issues or topics concerning GBTL you would like to learn about at the workshop.  (Please limit responses to one page by word count.)
