2013 BBA Efficiency Forum

At the Morning Plenary session on the second day of the Forum, Dr. Kathleen Hogan, DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency, addressed participants and recognized five manufacturers that are participating in the RTU Challenge. Forum participants held lively exchanges during sessions designed to identify the barriers and pathways to maximizing the impact of CBEA resources. Dr. Kathleen Hogan, DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency (right), presented a framed letter of recognition to a Daikin McQuay representative (center), in recognition that their Rebel™ rooftop unit air-conditioning system met the RTU Challenge. CBEA Co-Leads Brian Holuj (far right) and Kristen Taddonio (second from right) welcomed CBEA members to the event's first Morning Plenary session on May 23.

On May 29 and 30, 2013, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will be hosting the second Better Buildings Alliance (BBA) Efficiency Forum at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.

2012 CBEA Efficiency Forum

On May 23 and 24, 2012, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) hosted the first-ever Commercial Building Energy Alliance (CBEA) Efficiency Forum at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. Please note that the Better Buildings Alliance was formerly known as the Commercial Buildings Energy Alliance (CBEA). The two-day meeting included:

  • May 23 CBEA All-Member Meeting — Open to current CBEA members, who were challenged to identify the barriers and pathways to maximizing the impact of CBEA resources, report on energy savings in their facilities that can be attributed to these resources, and brainstorm possible 2012 projects.
  • May 24 Executive Exchange with Commercial Building Stakeholders — Building on the findings of the CBEA All-Member Meeting, bringing CBEA members together with senior commercial building stakeholders with expertise, products, and services directly related to the topics addressed by CBEA Project Teams.

The May 24 Morning Plenary session featured Dr. Kathleen Hogan, DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency, who recognized five manufacturers that are participating in the RTU Challenge: Daikin McQuay, Carrier, Lennox, 7AC Technologies, and Rheem. She then recognized Daikin McQuay's Rebel™ rooftop unit air-conditioning system for meeting the RTU Challenge, and presented a framed letter of recognition to a Daikin McQuay representative. Overall, a total of 141 individuals engaged at the CBEA Efficiency Forum—in-person or by teleconference, including 58 CBEA members, 54 industry stakeholders, and 29 DOE technical experts and supporting staff. Key findings are summarized in the CBEA Efficiency Forum Report.
