Northeast Community College in Nebraska Installs Turbine
October 11, 2011
Construction began on a 100-kilowatt Micon 108 wind turbine on the Northeast Community College campus in Norfolk, Nebraska. The turbine will connect to the Nebraska Public Power District power grid, and school officials say that it will be the largest net-metered turbine in the state. The turbine installation is part of an ongoing effort to grow the wind energy program at Northeast, which was recently expanded and now offers a 2-year associate degree. Northeast students assisted with the first DOE Wind for Schools project in Nebraska at Elkhorn Valley District Schools in Tilden in 2008.
