DOE Releases Funding Opportunity for Solid-State Lighting Core Technology Research

May 19, 2006

The U.S. Department of Energy released the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Core Technology Research (Round III) funding opportunity on May 12, 2006.  The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Building Technologies Program, is soliciting applications from research organizations to perform high-priority Core Technology Research activities that will advance the technical knowledge base for SSL to be used for general illumination applications.  This release marks the third funding announcement in a series expected to span the next decade.  The Program Areas of Interest defined in the funding opportunity target technological advances in both light emitting diode (LED) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) efficiency and stability.  For more information, see the Solid-State Lighting Web site.
