Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory Extends Deadline for Solar Proposals to May 15, 2009
May 4, 2009
The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) in New Jersey amended its request for proposals (RFP) through the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) for a solar power purchase agreement (PPA). The deadline for technical proposals is now May 15, 2009. A deadline for price bids has yet to be determined. The final contract is expected to be awarded by September 2009.
The RFP identifies the potential for rooftop and carport photovoltaic systems at PPPL with a combined capacity of up to 1,300 kilowatts. The RFP seeks fixed-price bids for a 10-year PPA contract. It also includes a 10-year license between the solar developer and DOE to provide access to the rooftops and/or carports.

This RFP follows a request for information (RFI) issued in October 2008 that identified PPPL, along with 10 other DOE sites, as a prime opportunity for on-site renewable energy projects.
