Federal Energy Efficiency Acquisition Guidance and Requirements for Fluorescent Tube Lamps

FEMP temporarily suspended its energy efficiency requirements for fluorescent tube lamps as it evaluates the market impact of the pending 2012 minimum efficiency standards for fluorescent lamps. The program will issue updated energy efficiency requirements when the market distribution of this product category stabilizes and when doing so has the potential to result in significant Federal energy savings.

FEMP identified several lighting technologies that are ready for Federal deployment but currently underutilized. Information about these technologies is available from the FEMP New and Underutilized Technologies website. In particular, FEMP strongly recommends that Federal agencies examine the applicability of Super-T8 lighting and, when designing or specifying a major lighting retrofit or lighting system for new construction, spectrally-enhanced lighting.
