Building for the 21st Century: The 2007 Solar Decathlon in Review
February 28, 2008
In October 2007, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) hosted the third Solar Decathlon. Twenty teams of college and university students competed to design, build, and operate the most attractive and energy-efficient solar-powered house. For nine days, the National Mall served as a living laboratory where best practices in solar energy, energy efficiency, and home design converged. The DOE sponsored "Building for the 21st Century Lecture Series" held at the National Building Museum on February 19, 2009, featured Richard King, director of the Solar Decathlon. King provided highlights of the event and discussed how lessons learned will help shape future R&D. View the presentation below, which is divided into six Adobe Acrobat PDFs. Download Adobe Reader.
